Covid-19 update
The Bahamas, like every other country, has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past year, our government has been taking all the necessary precautions to stop the virus from spreading.
We are happy to share the good news that a number of our restrictions have been lifted!
Below are the COVID-19 guidelines for New Providence as of February 25th, 2021.
Freedom to Roam
- You are “free to roam” in New Providence, with a daily curfew in place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Businesses, including retail shops (in-store shopping), restaurants (curbside, take away, and outdoor dining), and cinemas, may operate Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. At this time, indoor dining is only permitted at hotels.
COVID-19 Testing
- A negative RT-PCR swab test, taken within 5 days of arrival, is required for entry. You must submit your test results to the Ministry of Tourism to receive a health visa before you travel. Average turnaround time for visas is no more than 24 hours.
- Visitors staying for 5 days or more must take an antigen test on the 5th day of their trip. Costs for antigen testing and airlift insurance coverage are covered under the health visa.
- RT-PCR and antigen testing are easily available at various clinics including Lyford Cay Hospital, Family Medicine Center, and Doctor’s Hospital West -- all conviently located in Western New Providence. Most clinics provide results for antigen tests within hours and PCR tests within a day!
Vaccines
- Vaccines are expected to arrive in The Bahamas in March. With a population of just under 400,000, we anticipate that vaccinating will be a smooth process.
